With the aim of boosting new technology-based companies in different profiles and stages of development, Sebrae for Startups – the startups arm of the The Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) – is leading a series of initiatives during London Tech Week as part of its strategy to drive the international expansion of São Paulo-based startups.
One of the highlights of the agenda, which started today (13) and runs until Friday (17), is the Brazil Tech Night, which takes place this Wednesday (15). The event will aim to connect the Brazilian innovation and startup community in London, as well as entrepreneurs who are attending London Tech Week and want to know more about the Brazilian innovation ecosystem.
The event is free to attend and will take place at We Work Waterloo and is backed by Tech London Advocates, a network of over 13,000 leaders, entrepreneurs, and technology experts.
“London has one of the biggest Brazilian tech communities in Europe: it’s even larger than Portugal. Several London-based fintechs operate in Brazil and hire local professionals, and many Brazilian companies expand to the UK”, said Michel Porcino, director at Sebrae for Startups.

Brazil Tech Night is part of the London for Startups project, which aims to increase the international presence of São Paulo-based startups and promote long-term connections with other international ecosystems. Sebrae for Startups’ first international initiative took place in April in Miami, during the eMerge Americas event.
Sebrae’s entourage in London includes nine entrepreneurs from São Paulo. The group includes Doc4doc, a healthtech that connects specialists to general practitioners; Vigilantes do Sono, which has a digital program to improve sleep and treating insomnia; Vivax, the developer of solutions for robotic rehabilitation of lower and upper limbs; and the biological control agtech Life Biological Control, in addition to Rentbrella, an app that allows customers to borrow an umbrella from an automated kiosk, and Tidalwatt, a startup developing technologies to generate energy from the oceans.
“We are organizing this event to promote the São Paulo and Brazilian ecosystems and strengthen our brand as a technology hub, reinforcing that we also generate knowledge and innovation”, Porcino noted. In addition to participating in London Tech Week, the agenda for the startups includes technical visits, meetings with the local community, and pitching the idea to potential partners.
Helping companies with their international expansion is one of Sebrae for Startups, which was set up at the end of 2020 with plans to accelerate over 500 startups in 2022. The project aims to reposition Sebrae’s work with technology-based companies, with more than 20 programs aimed at the needs of startups in different profiles and stages of development.
